Daranak Falls If Antipolo has the 12-meter high Hinulugang Taktak, Tanay has Daranak Falls, which thunders down to its catch basin from 2 meters higher. Hinulugang Taktak is sadly polluted, but is undergoing rehabilitation as a National Park. In the meantime, the less famous but more impressive Daranak Falls is a great alternative for both local and foreign nature lovers. It still revels in its unspoiled beauty at the foot of the Tanay mountains, which forms part of the Sierra Madre range, despite its growing popularity. It Is surrounded by lush vegetation, and numerous rivers and ponds.

The town of Tanay in Rizal province is one of my favorite destinations near the metro for motorcycling road trips. Its proximity to Manila, refreshing mountain scenery, cooler climate and generally uncrowded destinations makes it a good alternative to Tagaytay on any given weekend.
