The town of Tanay in Rizal province is one of my favorite destinations near the metro for motorcycling road trips. Its proximity to Manila, refreshing mountain scenery, cooler climate and generally uncrowded destinations makes it a good alternative to Tagaytay on any given weekend. Parts of Tanay pass through portions of the Sierra Madre mountain range, making it a great motorcycling and biking destination.





WHERE EXACTLY IS TANAY:

Tanay is located 57 kilometers east of Manila in the Philippines. Tanay is bordered by Antipolo City in the northwest and the towns of Baras, Morong and Teresa in in the west, General Nakar (Quezon Province) in the east, and Pililla, Santa Maria (in the Laguna province) as well as the lake Laguna de Bay in the south.

Tanay is a town east of Manila, in the Philippines. The late 18th-century Tanay Church, also called San Ildefonso de Toledo Church, has a Renaissance-style facade. Parola is a lighthouse with sweeping views over Laguna de Bay Lake. The Masungi Georeserve has limestone rock formations set amid rainforest. Calinawan Cave is a multi-level cave system. Surrounded by tropical foliage, Daranak Falls offer natural pools.

Daranak Falls If Antipolo has the 12-meter high Hinulugang Taktak, Tanay has Daranak Falls, which thunders down to its catch basin from 2 meters higher. Hinulugang Taktak is sadly polluted, but is undergoing rehabilitation as a National Park. In the meantime, the less famous but more impressive Daranak Falls is a great alternative for both local and foreign nature lovers. It still revels in its unspoiled beauty at the foot of the Tanay mountains, which forms part of the Sierra Madre range, despite its growing popularity. It Is surrounded by lush vegetation, and numerous rivers and ponds.
